Mike Berkey

Michael Berkey is a forest firefighter. The sort of man you are certain could repair any break, ford any stream, pitch a tent in a windstorm, and keep you up ’til all hours telling adventure stories.

He is a resident of Alaska, has fought forest fires across North America, lives a most unique wandering lifestyle. He has a wonderful 1970 International truck converted to an RV, his sometime home.

He also has a home somewhere out in the Alaskan wilderness near Nome for the summer months and another home in Mexico on the Baja for the winter. A storyteller who obviously loves life. The kind of guy you are glad you met and hope to meet again so you can exchange just one more story.

I have been trying to “run into Mike again” for years, but just keep missing him. I will keep trying.
